Taking the Monotony Out of Dating

Dinner and a movie; maybe an occasional concert or sporting event. These are the common dates that couples have. And after a while, date nights become pretty “ho-hum” and rather pricey to boot. It’s hard enough creating a good dating profile, planning an interesting date is even harder!

So now, you meet a beautiful woman, you have a couple of these common dates, and you both are feeling that this might turn into something more than casual dating. You have decided that you want to spice things up by planning some unique and maybe even a bit crazy things for dates.

There is no lack of what you might plan, and here are some ideas to get that creative part of your brain moving.

A Paint and Sip Night

These have become pretty popular, and you and that beautiful woman will each create a piece of art as a souvenir of a fun evening. Here’s how they work. Get online and find one that is offered nearby. Make a reservation and pay for the event. You’ll be given a blank canvas, paints, and your choice of wines while you summon up your inner Rembrandt. The instructor will walk you through the steps to craft your masterpiece. When it’s over, take her to your place and let her choose where to hang your piece. Maybe she’ll invite you to her place to do the same.

Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride

Again, this will require a reservation and payment in advance. And weather conditions will play a role in when it can happen. But at least the plan has been made and both of you can anticipate it with some excitement. If you have never done this, you are in for a treat.

Take a Ghost Tour

If you live in a small town, there may not be haunted houses, but nearby in a larger metro area, there will be. Sign up for a tour with a guide who will not just take you through the houses. They will give you the entire history and a full rundown on the ghosts who inhabit each place. Round out the night with coffee and dessert in some cute out-of-the-way cafe.

Gather a Few Friends for an Escape Room Adventure

These are theme-oriented events in which your group will be placed in a room or two and find clues, solve puzzles, and complete tasks in order to escape the room in a set amount of time. Players can choose from literally hundreds of themes – prison escape, a bank robbery, a museum breakin, a spy mission – you get the idea. Have that beautiful woman help you pick the theme.

Order a DIY Meal Kit

Again, this is a relatively new activity, but can be loads of fun. Jointly pick a meal that you would both enjoy. It will be delivered on a day of your choosing, and you set about making that meal together. A favorite bottle of wine or a cocktail or two while cooking will only add to the fun.

Go-Kart Racing

Dates don’t always have to be at night, though this one can be either. Have several trips around the track, and see who can outmaneuver the other. The loser buys dinner at your favorite fast-food place.

Take a Float Trip

Kayaks or canoes are great but so are large tubes. If you are both beginners, choose a river without rapids, as they can be pretty tricky. Take along some jello shots in a sealed container, but don’t overdo it. Life jackets are a must!

Go Shopping for Each Other

Take a shopping trip to a store like Target. You each have the same amount of money. You spend it buying each other 5 gifts – these can be useful gadgets, jokes, or something a bit sexy – why not? Go to your place or hers, wrap them, and pretend it’s Christmas.

Rent Your Dream Car

Have you ever wanted to own a Corvette or a Porsche? There are places in large metro areas that rent them, if you have a great driving record. They will make you purchase the full insurance too. But you can rent it for the day, take a short road trip to a special place, and have a great lunch at some place “ritzy.” Pretend you are wealthy, if only for a day.

Volunteer Together

There is nothing romantic about this date, but it is one of those “feel good” things that you can do together. Do you share a love for animals? Volunteer at an animal shelter taking dogs for walks. If things are going really well for you, set up a schedule of doing this a couple of times a month. Do you have empathy for the homeless or the poor? Volunteer at a food pantry or a soup kitchen.

Visit a Museum

A great rainy Sunday afternoon date. There are obviously art museums, but look into some other options that you may have not too far away.

An Amusement Park

How long has it been since either of you has been on a merry-go-round or a ferris wheel? Or tried your luck on the carnival boardwalk? Try it all and eat junk food – why not channel your inner child?

Are You Feeling Some Inspiration Yet?

You should be. And this list is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. If you need some more ideas, get online and Google “Date Ideas.” You’ll get hundreds more. Better yet, have a date night with a home-cooked meal, look at the ideas together, and create a bucket list.
