Having a man cave has long been the dream of frazzled dads everywhere. I don’t think I know of a dad or husband anywhere that doesn’t want one. Even some of my single friends who live alone are keen on making a dedicated man cave where they can just got relax.
The thing about having a man cave is that it’s not just another room, it’s a sanctuary of peace and relaxation.
It’s important to have your own personal space where you can escape the stresses of the world, even if it’s only for an hour here and there.
Don’t believe me? Below are some great reasons to get yourself a man cave.

It could add value to your home
I’m aware this already sounds like someone making excuses to their wife about why they should have a man cave, but hear me out. Lots of men have a man cave in the garden.
Obviously a spare room is an obvious option, but you might not be able to escape the demands of the house if you can still hear your toddler screaming while you’re trying to have five minutes to yourself.
Garden rooms make for great man caves. A separate garden structure is a luxury, I’ll admit it, but it’s also an investment. With the housing market as it is, it’s not always possible to move to a house with more rooms, even if you’ve got money to spare. That’s why a garden room could be a rewarding purchase, especially if you work remotely. It could be an office by day and a place to relax in the evening.
The thing about adding a garden room is that it could increase the value of your property if you do decide to move. It’s thought that it could increase the value of your home by 15%. Not to be sniffed at!
Other outdoor structures could do the job too. Converting garages and sheds can also make for a peaceful escape, but neither of these options are insulated so even if you set up a heater, you might find it too chilly in the winter months.
It’s a place to keep your stuff
Whether you’re a gadget-lover, DIY enthusiast or just someone who has a variety of hobbies (and accessories for each one) – you’re going to need somewhere to keep your things.
The loft isn’t viable because if these are your hobbies, you’ll need frequent access to them. Also a shed or garage might not be secure enough. Whether you’ve commandeered the spare bedroom or bagged yourself a luxury garden room -it’s nice to have somewhere to keep your things. That way there’s no risk of someone “tidying” them away, or any little ones getting their hands on your breakables.
Your own dedicated space keeps your hobbies alive and your house tidy.
Somewhere to clear your head
Men’s mental health isn’t talked about nearly enough (it’s almost as if blokes don’t like talking about that stuff). But the secret to being healthy mentally is just the same as having a healthy body – you have to look after yourself.
Having a place to unwind, do things you enjoy, benefit from a quiet moment and whatever else you fancy can be a real tonic. Modern life is hectic and brings way more anxieties than it used to. Making time to calm your mind is essential for good mental health.
Even if you’re feeling generally good, it doesn’t hurt to try and keep that feeling up!
