What is it with kids wanting to ape grown-ups so much. I mean, we’re not that interesting, are we.
My son has often stumbled around wearing my shoes, pretended to drive the car, and even entered rooms saying “It’s been a hell of a day. I need a new job”.
We know they love to play at being adults, and one of the staples of a kids’ play set has always been a toy shop till. Whether they’re emptying your kitchen of tins to sell back to you, or selling you a selection of Hot Wheels cars, they just love being the other side of the till.
This brilliant little cash register won’t take up a mountain of room, but still packs in plenty of features to delight any little would-be shop assistants. It comes with a few items of groceries to get kids started from the off (handy if you don’t want your kitchen cupboards raiding). A carton of milk, a box of biscuits and a bottle of water are all ready to be scanned by the wired scanner. Music and sounds play as buttons are pressed and cards are swiped (why can’t real grocery shopping be this joyful?), while a tiny scale at the side adds an extra dose of authenticity.
You’ll even find some bank cards and notes in there. They look fairly legit, but they didn’t accept them at my local Co-Op so I wouldn’t recommend that you try either. Accessories such as these have a habit of disappearing after a a few hours of play, but as the till has a money tray that opens up at the push of the button, you can keep everything in there and never have to go hunting for any peripherals.
It takes 3X AA batteries, so make sure you’ve got those at the ready if you want to get stuck in straightaway.
