When it comes to keeping the kids busy, there aren’t usually many free options. Even taking them out for what should be a free walk around the neighbourhood ends up in the corner shop, where I have to buy them chocolate for the walk home.
Definitely not the free option I envisaged!
Having kids is one of the most expensive things you can do, so any free entertainment is always welcomed. I’m really pleased I found a load of free food based games on the Culinary Schools website.
There are hundreds of free games available and they’re very helpfully sorted into categories so you can easily find what you’re looking for. I like setting my kids up on some classic games like ones I used to play when I was a kid. Well, I say kid, but I was more a teenager when I was playing Snake on my Nokia or getting frustrated with Tetris on my Gameboy.

Fruit Snake
Fruit Snake is very similar to the original Snake as far as instructions go, but it’s much better looking! In full technicolour with a very smooth movement and a full screen in landscape to play on, it’s worlds more sophisticated than the black and white pixel game I played on my old Nokia. It’s just as addictive as it was back then, and a firm favourite for my kids today.
10/10 would recommend, but be prepared to be sucked in. You’ll be playing it instead of working every time you turn on your laptop!
Tetris Inspired Choco Blocks
Love shapes falling from the sky with added pressure of trying to make them tessellate? Of course you do, you’d be crazy not to! Tetris is probably more addictive than Snake, but just as much a timeless classic. I really like the chocolatey twist of this version – it looks good, but it doesn’t take away from the game in any way.
Look out for a boost when a chocolate eating monster descends from the top of the screen and chomps away your pile of chocolate blocks. It’s a welcome helping hand!
Restaurant Hidden Differences
Back in my day, spot the difference was confined to comics and the fun little puzzle books my grandma bought me. I used to love spot the difference puzzles and had a keen eye for even the tiniest of changes.
As technology has evolved, so has spot the difference and it can be done on a screen! Perfect for anyone who doesn’t like paper waste (or constantly splashing out on puzzle books). I don’t know if I’ve lost my knack or my eyes are getting old, but spotting differences are no longer my forte.
It took me far longer than I’m willing to admit to even see one difference, while they seemed to be jumping out at my kids when it was there turn. Either I need more practice or some new specs. Whichever it is, I’m back in the spot the difference headspace, ready to conquer.
Really recommend this because the other alternative is buying paper puzzle books, so it’ll save you a fortune!
