Christmas is fast approaching and after this, comes the time everyone starts planning their summer holidays away. What sort of break will you be doing this year? Are you looking to do a city break? A beach break? Or maybe something different like a cruise? Either way, it’s important you start saving now, as this will take some of the stress away when it comes to paying the full balance later in the year.
Saving money for a holiday can be done in a number of ways. A lot of people will create a separate savings pot, you may want to sell any old items you have and sell my broken phones, or cut but on your subscriptions – sadly, many of us have too many of them.

Cut down on your subscriptions
Cutting down on your monthly subscriptions is a quick win and something a lot of people will benefit from. Over the years, we are all suckers to subscriptions and have signed up for more than we need and signed up for some, which we meant to cancel and forgot about. Take a look at your bank statement and note down all the subscriptions you have, and then be strict and try to cut some down. Do you still need Amazon Prime? Netflix? Disney?Now TV? BT Sports and the rest?
Create a separate savings pot
When you are saving money for a holiday, one of the best things to do is create a separate savings pot, which is specific for your breakaway. Each month, try to put a certain amount into it and use the round-up feature on your bank to put any spare change into it as well. The sooner you create a separate savings pot, the more you will be able to save over time.
Sell old items
We are all guilty of collecting more than we need. Instead of continuing this trend, take a moment to walk around the house and create piles of things that you no longer need. You can then put these piles of items on selling sites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace to make some extra money. You can sell any old clothes that you no longer wear, any game consoles you no longer use, or mobile phones that are old. Whilst you are in the process of selling things, you could reach out to friends and family members to see if they have anything they want to give you, that you can sell. You’ll be amazed at how much some things you think are worthless will sell for.
