Every so often, a product comes around that opens your eyes to issues that you weren’t even aware of. This is certainly the case with Soji Towels, a manufacturer that are currently way, way over their crowdfunding target on Kickstarter with an eye-opening statistic that’s helping to drive interest in their plush towels –
After three days of use, your bathroom towel will have 450 times the amount of bacteria on it than your toilet seat.
Eurgh. I’ve got three bum-scratching, nose-picking kids in the house too, so I dread to think about the number of nasties on our towels!
As if that wasn’t enough to see you racing to your bathroom and burning your current towels, there’s also plenty of other benefits to using Soji towels. One such benefit that might be a big consideration for some, is the fact that it’s antimicrobial properties make it much kinder on your skin.

Soji towels are laced throughout with real silver fibres. I won’t bore you with the science (mainly because I flunked my GCSE physics), but silver is inherently antimicrobial. It eliminates 99.9% of microbial life and prevents it from replicating. This means that a Soji towel is guaranteed to be sterile for every use. My kids have yet to reach teenagerhood, but these towels would be beneficial to help lessen the effects of acne outbreaks and skin inflammation that puberty often brings.
Soji also say that the silver in the towels help to increase the elasticity of your skin. Though I’m lucky enough not to have any issues with acne, I could certainly do with my (almost) middle-aged skin calming down on the wrinkle making.
One big boon I can think of is the fact that Soji towels are odour free. You can thank the real silver fibres again for that. If there’s no bacteria, there’s no smell!

There’s been too many times that I’ve stepped out of a shower to find that the towel has already been used. They don’t take long to start smelling musty. Drying myself off with a funky old towel is the last thing I want when I’ve been scrubbing myself with fancy shower gels to make me feel nice and fresh.
Another useful attribute that Soji towels boast is their size. They’re much bigger than standard towels. This is deliberate on the part of Soji. They suggest that you can even take these on picnics, with its antimicrobial properties helping to keep your grub free of germs. You could even use it as a dog blanket, safe in the knowledge that your four-legged friend hasn’t left any harmful bacteria on the towel.
Of course, all of these benefits would be for naught if the towel didn’t do the basics right. You need a towel to do two things well: being absorbent and soft.
Soji addressed this from the off. They’re not the first to offer an antimicrobial towel, but they are the first to offer long-lasting 5 star-hotel-style plushness alongside it. With a hyper-absorbent cotton construction too, these promise to be the benchmark for all other towels to aspire to.
