What are IGCSEs?
IGCSE stands for the international general certificate of secondary education. It is a globally recognised qualification consisting of main core subjects and optional ones chosen by students. The curriculum is offered to students at the age of 15 although there are also 2-year programmes that can be selected as well. It is a course that consists of intensive work and designed to meet the needs of international students alike. It provides a platform for those who would like to progress onto further education and later, higher education too.

What do students study and how are they graded?
Students are required to study their core subjects; Maths, English Language, English Literature, Double science and global studies. Students are then given the option to choose from other subjects that are in demand or that they show interest in. The programmes are designed to be flexible which encourages a higher level of academic standard. The freedom given to them increases the opportunity to obtain better grades. As usual, exams are graded from 1-9 and given to students during the summer after their exams are sat.
