In an era defined by technological advancements, it comes as no surprise that people are going mad for smart home security.
In fact, smart home security is becoming so popular that it felt like I might have been the only one who wasn’t using it. I was keen to get started with protecting my home, and Abode home security kindly offered me some products to review.
I was kindly sent a wireless video doorbell and mini door sensor. Security items like this are famed for their ease of installation, and their integration into our daily lives. Both of these devices pair up with mobile phone apps and can be used with Amazon’s Alexa and a Google Nest, offer unparalleled convenience and security.

It’s worth pointing out that I rent. I know a lot of people can be dubious about installing a security system in a place they don’t own – which is understandable. Thankfully, these items offer a peel and stick installation option, meaning you can pop it off and take it with you when you move, and it won’t cause any damage to the property. Bonus!
Abode Security Kit Review

The Abode Home Security Kit comes with with the security hub, key fob and mini door sensor. It’s a great place to start your home security journey as it’s a piece of expandable kit – meaning you can add other Abode security devices and grow your system.

Other items you can add in to your security system include water sensors, smart lighting, motion detection, access control, arm/disarm devices, indoor/outdoor cameras, and more! This is great news for someone like me, who loves gadgets!
The Abode Security Kit is easy enough to install. Just download the app and follow the instructions – no specialist tools needed!
The most technical bit involves physically plugging the base unit into your internet connection for initial set up, then everything after that is even easier. It’s just a case of connecting the door sensor and the key fob.

Overall, it’s easier to use than I expected, a good price (Around £197.99), and the fact that I can keep adding to the kit is amazing.
Abode Wireless Video Doorbell Review

Another great bit of kit in the Abode Home Security range is the wireless video doorbell.
The box contains the video doorbell and the chime and set up is done via the app. Everything connects via WiFi, but the initial set up requires you to physically connect the chime to the router. It’s pretty easy to set up, even if you’re not great with tech.

The Abode video doorbell looks great – think that’s really important when you’re sticking something to the front of your house.
It’s an affordable price (at around £99.99) and does everything you’d expect it to do. The doorbell has night vision, is battery operated (with a long-life, rechargeable battery) and has motion detection (or person detection if you sign up for a plan).
All in all, it’s a good bit of kit, and I feel like I can rest easy to see who is at my door – whether I’m home or away!
